Thanks Sinead, that's great information to have. I'm looking forward to bending Grainne Kirwan's ear about it all tomorrow night and, acceptance pending, getting stuck in in September!

Thanks again.

@ Roy - what do you mean by that? ;)

@ Celine

In the first year of the course there is a strong leaning towards studying online interactions - both in the "Social Psychology of the Internet" module and the "Computer Mediated Communications" module. I really enjoyed studying these, especially the assignments as they were a mixture of practical work (e.g studying an online community) and researching/applying existing literature. These modules were studied for half of the course year and in the second half we had Consumer Cyberpsychology which also had an emphasis on online shopping and online advertising/interactions. The other subject we studied was Research Methods - which teaches you how to go about designing a research study for the purposes of your post-graduate dissertation (which is a big component of the second year of the course - so get thinking about it now! Try and think about what you'd like to investigate, what you'd like to study)

The one module we studied throughout the entire year was Human Computer Interaction (HCI) - which encompassed all forms of technology, but was more leaning towards software than hardware. There was a practical group project for this module where we applied HCI theory to designing a prototype of a hardware/software device.

I'm really looking forward to the second year of the course though, where we'll be studying the psychology of virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

I hope that helps but if you've any more questions, don't hesitate at all.

Hi Sinead,

Thanks for posting about this, I'm very keen to talk to people studying the Cyberpsychology masters in IADT and am thrilled (maybe a little too much) to see you have documented some of your course experiences in your blog. It's given me good insight into what I'm about to get myself into and I can't wait.

Since you've offered :) I'd like to know if the course modules lean towards certain technologies (mobile, web, etc.)?
Also the area's of the course your enjoying the most?

Many thanks,
Celine.
