Right now I’m loving/hating…
by Sinéad
Loving movie-tastic Dublin this week. Heading down to the preview screening of Vexille this evening, all courtesy of the Cinemagic International Film Festival (via Darragh and JazzBiscuit). They’re showing some truly classic movies (like Jaws!) in both Movies @ Dundrum and Cineworld on Parnell Street. Hating that I can’t make it to Toy Story on Wednesday morning. Now that will be a special screening – what a classic! Also heading to the preview screening of Iron Man in Cineworld on Wednesday night courtesy of the newly launched website Movies.ie – it really does pay off to be connected… to the internets of course!
Loving everything that Jason Segal and Tina Fey are in, have been in, and are going to be in. Examples being – Forgetting Sarah Marshall, How I Met Your Mother and Freaks and Geeks from Jason Segal, and then there is Baby Momma, 30 Rock and Saturday Night Live from Tina Fey. I highly recommend 30 Rock if you’re looking for a new comedy to start watching. I’ve become a total video junkie. Hating that neither of those two current TV shows (30 Rock and How I met your…) are ever on terrestrial or digital in Ireland and must be downloaded. Who ever it is that decides what American TV shows to buy in (rubbish like Desperate Housewives for instance) to show on RTE and TV3 should be fired.

Sinéad – missed you at the Vixelle tonight (how great was the animation in that movie?!). Will be at Ironman on Wednesday. Say hello if you can spot me; I’ll be one of the other 250 giddy iron-mobgers pushing their way in…
Hi David – well I was one of the two girls near the front, laughing their asses off near the end. There were a few things in that movie that were unintentionally hilarious. I enjoyed it though :)
The end scene – limping after each other had everyone in stitches…
Ahh 30 Rock, I must catch up on my downloading! Tina Fey is brilliant.
I’m still bitter they cancelled Freaks and Geeks. Sigh.
In other news, ya got tagged :)

Definitely get 30 Rock. Alec Baldwin + Tina Fey = hilarious.
Sucks that Freak and Geeks got canceled, but it’s fantastic seeing all of the cast, more recently, making successful careers for themselves. I recently caught little Sam Weir (John Francis Daley) himself in Bones, he a great actor and he’s grown up so handsome!
Oh, was I just meme-ed? Oh dear!
I missed you there too Sinead but thanks for the linkage – will definitely pass this feedback on to Cinemagic.
It was quite funny in some places alright. I have to admit to dozing off in the middle but like David thought the cgi animation was amazing. Especially the S.W.O.R.D team armour and their fights…
Dozing off? But it was action packed! Tsk tsk.
30 Rocks is fab. Alec Baldwin is a revelation and Tina Fey, well, she’s just brilliant. You are right about Desperate Housewives, it totally disappeared up itself.
Who knew that Alec Baldwin could be so funny?
I’m just getting stuck into season 2 of 30 Rock and it shows no signs of slowing – I’m hoping for a blackly comedic back story for Kenneth at some stage. I’m amazed it hasn’t been picked up by Channel 6.
I think Kenneth is wonderful! The actor that plays him is in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Actually, he plays a role very similar to Kenneth but he’s totally hilarious in it.
I think Kenneth’s great too but there’s definite scope for him as a character. The freaky basement church scene with him and Tracy is just the tip of the iceberg I think…
Must attempt to overcome my dislike of Russell Brand and go see Forgetting Sarah Marshall though, I am hearing many good things.
to imagine a year ago I thought Jason Segel was the big failure outta the Freaks and Geeks cast, ahead of Samm Levine even!
