Wealthy Meme
by Sinéad
These things usually start out with “I don’t normally do this” but to be honest I liked getting tagged, not because I want/need things to blog about, but because I think it’s a sweet thing to be thought of. Besides, sometimes you learn new and interesting facts about people from a simple meme.
This one involves the number 8, which for the Chinese is a lucky number - because it sounds similar to the word which means “wealth” in Chinese. Not at all like the number 4, which sounds exactly like “death” - I learned this many years ago when I worked in retail, Chinese customers never wanted a phone number with a number 4 anywhere in the digits. Always found that interesting. In some Asian countries there isn’t even a floor no. 4…

This is the 8 things meme…

Thanks for the link love & for memeing (or however that’s meant to look) - that’s precisely why I like these things. They’re short (usually), quick and you never know what random fact(s) you’ll pick up on about a person. Vive les memes :)
Link love, AND, real love. I do like me a good meme :)
Yay :) Hugs for everyone - real love ftw!
Thanks too from me - I loved filling mine out :)
And now I also know not to serve you with cups of cold coffee and to invite you round to my gaff next time we have a dance off in the kitchen, which doesn’t happen nearly as often as I’d like!
100s of magazines in one day?
Ah by thumbed I mean browsed, not actually read. That’d be rude. Seeing as it was a comic book store I was in.
Nightclubs, You and I both m’dear. I’d forgotten that. And the going into space one…
Again, thanks for playing my little game :-)
Just wanted to point out that of your wish list is more or less achievable without much effort.
Eight things I wish I could do:
1. Go into Space. - Expensive, but totally possible in your lifetime.
2. Go Whale Watching. - Not so expensive in the bigger scheme of things, so if you REALLY want to, just plan it.
3. Write a novel. - And why not?
4. Swim every day. - see above.
5. Live in the City. - it’s not like saying you want to live on the moon.
6. Be my own boss. - come on now, you can get it together to run a blog, believe me, you can run a business - go be a consultant expert in something, that’ll get you started.
7. Remember the lyrics to songs. - I’m sure there are memory games for this if one could be bothered.
8. Have a conversation with my grandparents. - I’m guessing they’ve passed away which makes this the only real wish wish in the magical sense on your list.
The only reason I’m pointing this out is a friend of mine recently did some research on what people would do if they won the lottery and discovered that what most people said they would like to do, they could probably do without winning the lottery at all, which is a bit depressing if you think about. By which I mean, we think we can’t have things we actually can have.
Wishing for things you COULD actually have, that IS pretty depressing. I’m changing that list, it’s definitely going to be “8 Things I’m Going To Do” instead. Like you said, 7/8 ARE possible.
